Our mission

At Emmy Lights the Way, our mission is deeply personal.

We help provide adaptive equipment for children with physical disabilities when insurance won’t.

ELW was created through firsthand experience navigating life with a child who relies on adaptive equipment every day. We quickly saw the gap between what children truly need and what insurance is willing to cover.

Equipment like adaptive bikes, medical strollers, and activity chairs can be life-changing, yet they are often denied, only partially covered, or come with overwhelming out-of-pocket costs for families.

We’re here to help close that gap.

Because this is about more than equipment. It’s about inclusion, independence, freedom, joy, and giving kids greater access to their world.

How we make a difference

Our mission rests on three foundational pillars that guide everything we do for children with physical disabilities and their families.

A crowd gathers outdoors near a wooden fence for a performance, with some people taking photos or videos. A performer is elevated on a treehouse-like platform, playing a musical instrument, while string lights decorate the area. Trees, houses, and an American flag are visible in the background on a clear day.

Awareness

We bring visibility to what many families navigate quietly.

By sharing real stories and real needs, we help people better understand the realities of children with physical disabilities and the many gaps that still exist.

Because awareness is what sparks understanding, inclusion, and change.

Direct Support

We provide adaptive equipment that insurance often won’t cover- but families deeply need.

From medical strollers to activity chairs, to adaptive bikes, we help children access the equipment they need to participate more fully in everyday life.

Because the right equipment doesn’t just make things easier-

it changes what’s possible.

Inclusion

Access makes inclusion possible.

We help children with physical disabilities get the adaptive equipment they need to participate more fully in everyday life — from playgrounds to family outings and community spaces.

Because every child deserves to be part of it.
